Managing the Lost Person Incident (MLPI)
The Managing the Lost Person Incident (MLPI) course is a specialized training course designed for those aiming to serve as Incident Commanders or SAR Managers in charge of the stages of a lost person incident, with a primary focus on the Search aspect of SAR operations. This advanced course is part of the NASAR series and delves into the crucial management responsibilities and leadership skills needed to lead SAR missions effectively. It covers the entire scope of SAR operations from the initial response to the expansion of search efforts and the eventual demobilization of resources. The MLPI course explains and describes in detail the overall objectives, strategies, and tactics needed for a successful outcome of SAR missions. With further incident management training and field experience; the person with this training can perform as the Incident Commander on prolonged and more complex searches. A key component of the course is the development of an Incident Action Plan (IAP), which outlines the objectives, strategies, and tactics essential for a successful SAR mission outcome. This course is designed for field experienced individuals and this course requires some prior knowledge of SAR operations and advanced ICS application to rapidly changing events. This course also includes necessary group work, workshops, and necessary homework assignments.
