This online training course is designed specifically for EMS providers to enhance their defensive driving skills and reinforce safe vehicle operation during emergency and non-emergency responses. With EMS vehicle crashes ranking among the leading causes of provider injuries and fatalities, this course focuses on risk reduction strategies, situational awareness, legal considerations, and the science of vehicle dynamics in real-world EMS environments.

Participants will explore state laws and regulations governing emergency vehicle operation, review common causes of ambulance collisions, and develop techniques to anticipate hazards, manage distractions, and maintain control under pressure. Real-case incident reviews, dash cam footage, and interactive scenarios will help bridge the gap between classroom concepts and on-the-road realities.

Topics Covered:
  • Principles of defensive driving for emergency vehicles
  • Legal responsibilities and exemptions under state law
  • Speed management, braking, and cornering
  • Intersection navigation and red-light response safety
  • Driving in adverse weather and low-visibility conditions

Audience:
EMTs, Paramedics, EMS Supervisors, Drivers, and EVOC-certified personnel

REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE AT 5:00PM EST ON THE DAY OF THE CLASSES. THE CLASS REMINDER AND LOGON INFORMATION WILL BE SENT NO SOONER THAN 12:00 EST ON THE DAY OF THE COURSES.
