We are very excited to announce our 2025 offering of Adventure Medical's Wilderness Life Support for the Medical Professional! (WLS:MP)


WLS:MP is designed for medical professionals of all levels (MD, EMT, PA, NP, RN, etc) that have an interest in expanding their knowledge of wilderness medicine pathology and

enhancing their practical skills in a wilderness environment. WLS:MP courses are designed for all types of outdoor enthusiasts, from the casual day hike to the extended expedition. 

During this  in-person course, students will learn the latest wilderness medicine skills for patient assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evacuation. Our expert instructors employ a wide scope of teaching methods, balancing online didactic lectures with practical, hands-on skills and scenarios. Emphasis is placed not just on the materials learned, but the critical decision making skills surrounding effective backcountry medical management.

This fast paced and challenging course is designed for medical professionals who wish to begin to scratch the surface of practicing medicine in austere environments. This course provides a practical foundation in wilderness and austere care for medical professionals. The course will emphasize strong patient assessment techniques to make better treatment decisions in a resource limited environment. The participating provider is trained in methods to manage medical and traumatic incidents, as well best practices to treat urgent care complaints in the wilderness and during evacuation.

The course will have a required online training portion that must be completed before your arrival at the class. The remainder of the course time is spent in small groups or participating in hands on teaching sessions with mock victim scenarios.


CME Accreditation Information
The Wilderness Medical Society designates this Live activity for a maximum of 21.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. This activity is accredited through the Wilderness Medical Society.

PHYSICIAN ASSISTANTS: The American Association of Physician Assistants accepts Category 1 CME approval from organizations accredited by the ACCME. OTHER PROFESSIONALS: Check with your governing entity to determine usefulness of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Wilderness Medical Society and AdventureMed. The Wilderness Medical Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Amenities & Course Lodging Options: 
While utilizing Black Moshannon State Part you have two on-site lodging options.

On-Site Camping:

  • Option 1: On-site camping in a group camping area. On-site Camping is arranged directly with Sergeant Rescue. On-Site Camping starts the night of the start of the course through the morning after. (Covers Camping for 11-13 April 2025)
  • Black Moshannon State Park Amenities: Shower / Bath house is available in the main state park campground. Potable water, bathrooms, fire pits, and charcoal grills area available in the group camping area. 
  • Option 2: You have the choice to rent a cabin or a RV campsite in the main campground. This would be done at your own expense and can be booked here: https://pennsylvaniastateparks.reserveamerica.com/unifSearch.do?tti=CampingSpot&tti=CampingSpot Space is limited to remember to book early. 
  • There are also some great local motels and bed and breakfasts in the area.

 

COURSE POLICIES

Registration Policy:

Payment in full is required to reserve your spot in the course. Tuition is non-transferable and is payable by check, credit card, paypal, or money order. Tuition covers Instructor fee, syllabus license fee, course equipment, and NASAR certification cards. SRTC is not obligated to allow any student to attend a course until SRTC paperwork has been received, reviewed and approved by SRTC. Payment in full is required to reserve your lodging for the course if you choose to utilize our lodging option.

Cancellation & Refund Policy:

If a student cancels out of the course or withdrawals from a course:

  • If greater than or equal to 45 days prior to the starting date of the course, SRTC will retain a $55.00 administrative cancelation fee.
  • Within 45 days of the course start date, tuition is non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • Participants that cancel or withdraw from a course are still responsible for cancelation fees even if payment has not been sent or processed. (Applies if you cancel within 45 days of a course.)
  • Failure to cancel and failure to show does not negate any financial obligations relating to the course. SRTC reserves the right to recoup any finances

A full refund will be given if we need to cancel the course for any reason.

Late Payment Policy:

Participants that register and choose pay via company check or personal check must submit payment in a timely manner. Payment is due no later than 10 days after your registrations is submitted. If payment is not post marked prior to this date a late fee will be assessed. Late fees will either be invoiced separately or added to any outstanding balance 

  • An initial late fee of $25.00 will be assessed for any late payment. 
  • An additional fee of $15.00 per day, will also be assessed if payment is delayed past 10 days from registration and this fee is retroactive to the date of registration.

 

SRTC Student Agreements:(Including Assumption of Risks and Agreement of Release of Indemnity)

A course student agreement will be sent to you upon completion of registration. Please sign, return it and read it carefully as it affects your legal rights. Bring the signed document to the first day of the course or return it via email to [email protected]. If you are a minor, a parent or guardian must sign the document as well. Without a signed document, you cannot participate in the course. SRTC course participants, including minors, will have unsupervised free time throughout the course. Any activities during the free time are not part of the SRTC training program and are at the sole risk of the participant.
